CITY OF GREEN BAY UNVEILS STATUE AND ‘DONALD DRIVER WAY’ - Donald Drivers’ impact wasn’t only at Lambeau Field but also off the field in the Green Bay Community. So on Saturday, the city of Green Bay thanked Donald Driver with a special recognition to honor both his impact both on and off the field. 

City officials unveiled a sign changing Pearl Street to Donald Driver Way, for the recently retired wide receiver who spent 14 seasons with the Packers.

“It’s not my street sign, it’s your street sign,” Driver said to the several hundred folks who crowded into the Titletown Brewing Co. parking lot in downtown Green Bay to see their hero once again. 

Also unveiled Saturday was a 28-year-old statue in front of Titletown Brewery that has been painted to look like Driver by the so-called Packers “Fence Painter” Chris Handler.

Driver retired this winter after catching 743 passes for 10,137 yards after making the team as a seventh-round draft pick out of Alcorn State in 1999. He retired as the Packers’ all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards

Driver choked back tears as he thanked his family, the community and team for its support Saturday. He also thanked former Packers President Ron Wolf, who was in attendance. Wolf signed Driver to the team. (Photo: Duke Bobber/Packers.com)
